Emergency Posters for Kids Bundle (Free Printables)

by

As much as we wish emergencies didn’t happen, it’s best to be prepared—and to prepare our students too. Make sure everyone knows what to do in case of emergency by hanging posters on the wall, as well as reviewing procedures and, when possible, practicing them. Grab our free printable Emergency Posters bundle to help kids feel secure and act safely during any emergency. Then check out our tips below for using them, as well as this advice for helping kids prepare for their first emergency drill.

Teach and review procedures with emergency posters

The Emergency Posters bundle includes four posters that explain common classroom emergency procedures:

  • Fire drill
  • Intruder drill
  • Tornado drill
  • Earthquake

All students will practice fire drills, some districts have students practicing intruder drills, and, depending on where you live, tornado or earthquake safety is important. Use these posters, with the images included or with images of your own students, to show students what to do and remind them of the procedures before the monthly fire drill or on a day that a tornado is predicted.

The bundle also includes a general emergency poster with space to include important phone numbers (911 or the extensions for the principal or nurse) and space to showcase who students can expect to see during an emergency.

Share emergency posters with families

It’s important for parents to know how your school handles emergencies, so sending home copies of the procedure posters that are applicable to you, and the general emergency poster with the appropriate contact information, can help families be aware of what will happen during an emergency.

Benefits of Posting Emergency Posters

  • Clarity: Students (and you) can follow the procedures with a quick glance at the poster.
  • Visual: The pictures reinforce the procedures and eliminate the need for students to process too much information when they are in an emergency.
  • Reinforcement: Students can use the posters to review procedures before they apply them, and gain confidence that they know exactly what to do to be safe in any situation.
